The COST Action SMIRES: Science and Management of Intermittent
Rivers and Ephemeral Streams organizes its first Training School (TS)
focused on biogeochemistry in intermittent streams, with strong
emphasis on state-of-the-art field and lab techniques tailored to the study of the dry phases of these ecosystems. COST Action CA15113
Description
This 5-days hands-on TS covers a wide range of techniques including:
• Measurement of gas emissions in situ
• Physics of substrates
• Organic matter characterization
• Enzymatic activities
• Nitrification/denitrification
• Estimation of metabolic rates
