CHARACTERISTICS OF THE JOB

  • Job location:  ICRA – Catalan Institute for Water Research, Girona, Spain
  • Number of positions available: 1
  • Expected start: October 2017
  • The position for 1 year (possibility of extension)
  • Temporal position (Part Time – 30 h/week)
  • Gross salary package: 13.500 €

 

JOB PURPOSE / PROJECT DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a highly motivated person in the field of programming, with expertise on Javascript. The candidate would join a team in charge of developing web-based applications for the water sector. Our vision is to develop tools for the society (free and Open source) so that highly valuable information is generated and transferred to the research sector to enhance our knowledge and to tackle important societal challenges. The candidate would be trained on ICRA’s approach to develop web-based applications.

More specifically, the candidate would be in charge of the development of a web-based application for urban wastewater systems to assess the environmental impacts. The candidate will take responsibilities in coding the web-based application following the templates provided by ICRA. The development of the tool is supported by a prestigious international organism, the International Water Association, having wide visibility within the water sector.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Coding of the web-based tool, starting from ICRA templates, using javascript and html;

- Link to other researchers involved in the project to get their inputs into the web-based platform;

 

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & SELECTION CRITERIA

Must Have – Required

Experience:

Experience in programming ( Javascript, PHP or similar (Express, ASP, RoR, etc.), HTML5/CSS3, MySQL/MongoDB, Python, Git / Github,         Linux / Bash)

Knowledge:

Studies on Industrial engineering, informatics, electronic engineering, mechanical engineering, telecommunications engineering.

Skills:

Desirable

The important is to have a strong background on programming.

Optional is to have experience in -     C/C++/C#/Java, R / Matlab / Simulink, AT Commands,            Ruby, Node JS, Scala, Arduino / Raspberry Pi, Go Lang, Matplotlib / d3js

Experience in applications for mobile phones (IoS, Android) is and added value.

Having gone through an MBA is also an added value.

Selection process:

  • Pre-selection: will be based on CV, experience, skills and motivation letter.
  • Interviews: Short-listed candidates will be interviewed. A programming test will be requested at the interview.
  • Offered Position: Job Offer will be sent to the successful candidate after the interview.
