CHARACTERISTICS OF THE JOB
- Position: Research Technician
- Number of positions available: 1
- Expected start: October 2017
- Temporal position. The position for 5 months
- Gross salary package: 20.000 €/year divided into 12 payments
JOB PURPOSE / PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Analysis of emerging contaminants in environmental samples such as waters by LC-MS-MS.
To perform sample preparation and analysis by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) techniques of emerging contaminants in water samples collected during 2017 and 2018 in different points of Catalonia.
Sample preparation includes an extraction step, based on solid phase extraction (SPE). Instrumental determination must be carried out by LC-MS/MS.
Method validation parameters, including recoveries, repeatability, limits of detection and limits of quantification, will be assessed for each target analyte. Then, the validated analytical methods will be applied to the determination of the target compounds in the corresponding field samples. Finally, reports including all these results will be elaborated.
EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & SELECTION CRITERIA
Must Have – Required
Experience in analysis at trace level of emerging contaminants in environmental samples:
- Familiar with SPE to extract emerging contaminants from water samples
- Knowledge on the development and application of methodologies based on LC coupled to low and high-resolution MS-MS techniques of application in the analysis of emerging contaminants, e.g. LC-Orbitrap-MS
Knowledge: Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences.
Skills: Microsoft Office. Catalan, Spanish and English. Statistics.
Others: Availability and mobility to work most of the time in the Barcelona area.
Desirable: Previous collaborations in research projects and groups.
