CHARACTERISTICS OF THE JOB
- Job location: ICRA – Catalan Institute for Water Research, Girona, Spain
- Number of positions available: 1
- Expected start: 1/10/2017
- Temporal position. The position for 12 months
- Gross salary package: 18.000 €
JOB PURPOSE / PROJECT DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a highly motivated person in the field of programming and electronics. The candidate would join a team in charge of developing web-based applications for the water sector. Our vision is to develop tools for the society (free and Open source) so that highly valuable information is generated and transferred to the research sector to enhance our knowledge and to tackle important societal challenges.
The job includes the development of a web-based application for urban wastewater systems to assess the environmental impacts. The job is related to the REaCH project funded by MINECO (Ministry of Spain). The candidate will take responsibilities in coding the web-based application following the templates provided by ICRA. The platform includes direct (from energy consumption) and indirect CO2 emissions (e.g. N2O and CH4 from sewers and WWTPs). The platform will incorporate environmental impact assessment following a life-cycle assessment approach. The tool is supported by the International Water Association, having wide visibility within the water sector. In addition the technician will participate in the deployment of the first Lora gateway in Girona to start a IoT community.
- Coding of the web-based tool, starting from ICRA templates, using html and json.
- Develop an energy consumption monitoring module.
- Link to other researchers involved in the project to get their inputs into the web-based platform.
- Link to an LCA specialist to provide the equations needed into the platform.
- Deployment of the Lora gateway
EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & SELECTION CRITERIA
Must Have – Required
Experience in a working environment (minimum of 6 months)
Experience in electronics
Studies on Industrial engineering, informatics, electronic engineering, mechanical engineering, telecommunications engineering.
The important is to have a strong background on programming and knowledge on electronics (specially what regards to Arduino, Lora, etc.)
Experience in the energy and/or water sector
We will value as well experience in - C/C++/C#/Java, R / Matlab / Simulink, Comandes AT, Ruby, Node JS, Scala, Advanced Statistics, Biological background, Machine Learning, Arduino / Raspberry Pi, Go Lang, Matplotlib / d3js
