CHARACTERISTICS OF THE JOB

  • Expected start: September 2020
  • Permanent Position.
  • Full Time Position (1.711 h/year)
  • Gross Annual Salary package: 22.340,95 €

 

JOB PURPOSE / PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The person hired will have the main function of supporting ICRA researchers, with most of tasks associated (but not restricted to) its area of Technology and Evaluation (TiA). This Area supports several research lines, mostly in water and wastewater treatment, covering the whole urban water cycle. Tasks will support research on conventional and alternative water resources, drinking and wastewater treatment, sewer and distribution systems, resource recovery, fundamental process knowledge regarding transport and fate of contamination in biological (conventional and natural systems), physico-chemical (advanced oxidation processes, membranes) and nanoelectrochemical treatment technologies, modelling of processes and systems, decision support systems, and sewer epidemiology related to health issues. Other tasks will interlink with other Areas of Research in ICRA, related to water analyses, water collection, and general duties supporting research.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific technical support to projects: analyses, sampling and sample preparation, field studies in wastewater treatment plants, sewers, wastewater collection and transport.

Organization of purchase orders, direct communication with administration services at ICRA, and other administrative tasks, mostly related (but not exclusive) to the TiA Area operation.

Maintenance of equipment (balances, micropipettes, spectrophotometers, probes, automatic samplers, online analysers...) and lab/pilot plants.

Supervision of laboratories (operation, safety, organization of common material, coordination of periodical cleanings, organization of reagents, waste management, labelling, stock maintenance, etc.). Implementation of safety rules in laboratories and waste management.

 

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & SELECTION CRITERIA

Must Have – Required

Knowledge: Preferable Higher Degree Training Cycle (CFGS) in subjects related to chemistry, environment or similar. Degrees in chemistry, environmental sciences or similar may also be considered.

Experience: 2 years developing similar functions in Research Center, Chemical or Pharmaceutical Industry. Prior laboratory experience with laboratory analyses of water, sensors and sampling techniques is of paramount importance.

Languages: Spanish and Catalan language. Valuable good level of English.

Skills: Openminded and able to work with enthusiasm in a multidisciplinary and multicultural team, good organization, flexibility, able to work and perform tasks with minimum supervision, clarity in writing technical reports, time management skills to work on several different projects at once.

Others: Driving licence and capability of driving medium-size vans (Over 25 years old with a minimum driving license of 2 years). Have the relevant vaccinations for working with waste water (if do not have them, undertake to get them within 1 month of the start date of the contract)

Desirable

  • Experience in a similar position will be valued.
  • Knowledge (highly valued intermediate or higher technical degree) in Occupational Risk Prevention / Occupational Safety
  • Waste Management Knowledge
  • Any of the following past research experiences will be judged favourably.
