Lúcia Santos is a pharmacist and PhD in Analytical Chemistry. His research has been developed in the field of Environmental Chemistry, focusing on i) the development of innovative analytical methods for the study of the sources and fate of emerging pollutants (EC) (eg pharmaceuticals, microplastics) in the environment; ii) monitor the fate of ECs and their removal through innovative and conventional wastewater treatment technologies; and in the field of ecotoxicology, iii) link the environmental exposure of ECs to the impact on non-target organisms in terms of toxicity, bioaccumulation, biotransformation and metabolic changes; i iv) study the risks to human health.
