On 9 June 2026, Joaquim Comas took part in the conference “Regional Pact for the Knowledge Society”, held at the Government of Catalonia Auditorium in Girona. As part of the session “Shared Agendas (SA): Open Spaces for Territorial Collaboration”, Joaquim Comas presented the initiative “Water Governance in the Girona River Basins.”

The agenda was developed to foster collective responses to complex challenges such as structural water scarcity and the impacts of climate change across the region. The initiative aims to move beyond traditional management models by promoting water security based on collaboration among public administrations, the research community, the private sector, and civil society. During the presentation, Comas highlighted the three working groups currently in operation: circular water, adaptive governance, and economic signals.

This collaborative platform already brings together more than 30 organizations from across the region. Its ultimate goal is to increase the resilience of the Girona river basins through transformative technical, economic, and policy solutions. The presentation concluded with a call for new stakeholders to join upcoming milestones, including the 1st Shared Water Agenda Innovation Camp, scheduled for 17 September 2027.
