OFFER DESCRIPTION
ICRA is seeking to hire a Specialized Research Technician with strong background in analytical chemistry. The successful applicant is expected to conduct independent research on the monitoring of emerging pollutants in aquatic and biota samples through advanced analytical methods. This includes the application of in-house methods for the analysis of emerging pollutants in water and vegetable samples.
Additionally, the applicant will develop and apply complementary methods for the analysis of the target contaminants in the analysed samples.
Experience in liquid chromatography – mass spectrometry (LC – MS) is essential and experience with high resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS) as well as knowledge in nature-based solutons are recommended.

KEY DUTIES
The tasks that the contracted Specialized Research Technician will perform include:
i) applying analytical methodologies for the analysis of emerging contaminants in aqueous and vegetal samples;
ii) evaluating the presence of emerging contaminants in water and vegetable samples using various advanced analytical methods;
iii) assess bioaccesivility of emerging contaminants and evaluating their potential risks for human health;
iv) drafting protocols, scientific reports, and scientific articles;
v) a small proportion of time will be dedicated to common services such as joint laboratory maintenance, etc.
EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Must have – Required
Research Field or Field of knowledge:
Environmental Chemistry
Qualifications and Education Level:
Master in Environmental Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Environmental Science
Skills:
Experience in planning mesocosms experiments and monitoring of emerging pollutants;
handling and extraction of water and biota samples, as well as analysis with mass spectrometry methods (including HRMS);
in data management software.
Ability to work independently and as a member of a team; must be creative, flexible and eager to learn and expand their scientific network
Required Languages:
English, Catalan and Spanish
Required Experience:
Experience in laboratory experiments and monitoring campaigns;
Experience in handling and analysis of environmental samples (including water and plants); Demonstrated experience in environmental and analytical chemistry for the determination of organic pollutants (plastic additives, pharmaceuticals, etc.);
Knowledge in studying the fate of emerging pollutants in the environment;
Experience in platform presentations and in the preparation of papers/reports;.
Desirable
The following previous research skills and experiences will be taken into account in the selection process:
i) experience with high-resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS) for analysis of suspect and non-target substances and related software;
ii) knowledge in nature-based solutions for wastewater treatment, in particular in relation to hydroponic systems on the presence and fate of organic micropollutants

In accordance with the OTM-R principles, a gender-balanced recruitment panel is formed for every vacancy at the beginning of the process.
