Colloquium: “Intuitions and evidence in ecology: the legacy of Ramon Margalef for a changing world”, organized by Friends of UNESCO in Barcelona

Colloquium presented by Dr. Sergi Sabater , student of Ramon Margalef.

Full professor at the Department of Ecology (1991-2001) at the University of Barcelona.

Since 2003 he has been Professor of Ecology at the University of Girona. Attached to the Catalan Water Research Institute (ICRA) since 2009, of which he is Deputy Director and head of the Resources and Ecosystems area.

He has co-edited several books and published more than 250 articles on ecology in international scientific journals and other contributions. He has supervised 21 Doctoral theses, and his research has focused on the ecology of fluvial ecosystems, especially on the effects of global change, and in particular those related to water scarcity and nutrient excess, the hydrological alterations, and the presence of toxic substances.
