He obtained his PhD at the University of Barcelona (2004) for a research on the influence of the riparian forest and the hydrology on the structure and functioning of a Mediterranean river.\r\n\r\nHis expertise lies in the ecology of temporary streams and ecosystem services. He has explored the influence of flow regimes and temperature on carbon metabolism and has characterized their temporal and spatial alterations. He has also studied the effects of pharmaceuticals in stream ecosystems. Currently, he integrates the different disciplines of the RIE area and supports political decision-making.
