OFFER DESCRIPTION

We are seaking a PreDoctoral Researcher to conduct lab-scale experiments on electrochemical water and wastewater treatment, with a specific focus on the analysis of antibiotics and antibiotic resistant bacteria in water and evaluation of their removal.

KEY DUTIES

Synthesis and functionalization of graphene sponge electrodes, carrying out experiments with lab-scale electrochemical flow cell, and analysis of experimental data and elaboration of scientific reports.

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

Must have – Required

Research Field or Field of knowledge:

As this is a short contract requiring a very specific skill set, prior laboratory experience with electrochemical water treatment systems and electrode material synthesis and characterization, in particular graphene-based materials, is of paramount importance

Qualifications and Education Level:

Master Degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Science and related fields, that allows enrolling on a PhD project at the doctoral school of the University of Girona is a necessary pre-requisite.

Skills:

Demonstrated laboratory skills related to electrochemical systems (operation and characterization of electrochemical reactions), as well as analytical skills and microbiological analysis skills are necessary.

Required Languages:

Spanish, English, Catalan.

Required Experience:

At least two years of experience related to the description of the position.

Desirable

Experience with quadruple ion trap mass spectrometer.

Selection process:

In accordance with the OTM-R principles, a gender-balanced recruitment panel is formed for every vacancy at the beginning of the process.
