OFFER DESCRIPTION

          

We are seeking a Predoctoral Researcher to conduct lab and pilot-scale experiments on electrochemical water and wastewater treatment in the scope of the project ERC Proof of Concept Grant GRAPHEC: Scalable Graphene-enabled ElectroChemical Treatment for Complete Destruction of “Forever Chemicals” in Contaminated Water.

 

KEY DUTIES

Synthesis and functionalization of graphene sponge electrodes, carrying out experiments with lab and pilot-scale electrochemical flow-through cell, and analysis of experimental data and elaboration of scientific reports.

 

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

Must have – Required

 

Research Field or Field of knowledge:

As this is a short contract requiring a very specific skill set, prior laboratory experience with electrochemical water treatment systems and electrode material synthesis and characterization, in particular graphene-based materials, is of paramount importance.

 

Qualifications and Education Level:

Master Degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Science and related fields, that allows enrolling on a PhD project at the doctoral school of the University of Girona is a necessary pre-requisite.

 

Skills:

Demonstrated laboratory skills related to electrochemical systems (operation and characterization of electrochemical reactions), analytical skills with target and non-target analysis of trace organic contaminants are necessary.

 

Required Experience:

At least two years of experience related to the description of the position.

 

Desirable

Experience with quadruple ion trap mass spectrometer.

Selection process:

In accordance with the OTM-R principles, a gender-balanced recruitment panel is formed for every vacancy at the beginning of the process.
