This line of research focuses on the development of new technologies and strategies for (waste) water treatment and resource recovery, which can be applied on a decentralized scale. Our main motivation is to develop technologies that are truly low-cost systems, with a minimal environmental footprint both in their construction and in their operation. We are particularly interested in nanotechnology-based remediation strategies, electrochemical treatment systems and nature-based solutions (NBS).
Research topics:
• Decentralized treatment and reuse of (waste)/grey water
• Sanitation strategies based on nanotechnology
• Electrochemical treatment of water (waste) and resource recovery • Nature-based solutions
