The Catalan Institute for Water Research (ICRA) organized an outreach and awareness session on the causes and consequences of global warming on May 15th at the Institut Ridaura, located in the municipality of Castell-Platja d’Aro. The activity, led by ICRA researcher Josep Pueyo-Ros, was aimed at eleventh-grade students (1r de batxillerat) taking Biology and Social and Environmental Issues.
During the session, students tested their knowledge through a dynamic quiz on climate change. In addition to reviewing the scientific foundations of the environmental crisis, the workshop included a section dedicated to critical thinking, which broke down the main strategies used by climate denialists to detach human activity (anthropogenic causes) from global warming.
The event concluded with a highly practical and participatory focus: the students themselves presented a range of mitigation and adaptation strategies specifically designed for the Ridaura Valley, demonstrating the commitment of young people to the future of their own local territory.
