The increasing availability of new climate products and advances in modeling tools make it possible for the first time to produce reliable forecasts of water quality in lakes and rivers at regional and global scales, an untapped potential in the Water. InventWater will train a new generation of professionals capable of bridging fields such as data science, climate, hydrology and freshwater ecology, while developing the skills necessary to translate knowledge and technical innovations into useful products for managers, policy makers and the general public. The project is based on 15 doctoral theses on the most innovative aspects of water quality prediction applied to a wide range of problems, from local adaptation to increased extreme climate events, including the support for climate change adaptation strategies and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.
