Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Postdoctoral Fellowships 2024

ICRA is looking for exceptional, highly-motivated and ambitious researchers of any nationality interested in developing collaborative applications for the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Postdoctoral Fellowships call. The Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Postdoctoral Fellowships provide researchers from all over the world with the opportunity to acquire and transfer new knowledge and to work on research in a European context or outside Europe Applications will be made jointly by the researcher and ICRA that will submit the project proposals as host organization.

Postdoctoral Fellowships either can take place in Europe (i.e. in an EU Member State or a Horizon Europe Associated Country) or in a Third Country not associated to Horizon Europe:

-European Postdoctoral Fellowships are open to researchers of any nationality who wish to engage in R&I projects by either coming to Europe from any country in the world or moving within Europe. The standard duration of these fellowships must be between 12 and 24 months.

-Global Postdoctoral Fellowships are open to European nationals or long-term residents who wish to engage in R&I projects with organisations outside EU Member States and Horizon Europe Associated Countries. These fellowships require an outgoing phase of minimum 12 and maximum 24 months in a non-associated Third Country, and a mandatory 12-month return phase to a host organisation based in an EU Member State or a Horizon Europe Associated Country.

Further information about the scheme can be found here: HORIZON-MSCA-2024-PF-01-01. The Guide for Applicant, together with other relevant documents was published on the 10th April 2024.

ICRA has been created to conduct top-quality multidisciplinary research in the world of water science. Its Principal Investigators (PI) and researchers come from a wide range of disciplines (ecology and environmental sciences, limnology, chemistry, engineering, biology) and are among the best in their respective fields, at both national and international level.

ICRA’s is particularly interested in proposals within the following research topics, though any alternative suggestions will also be considered:

-Decentralized greywater treatment by nature-based solutions for water reuse: emerging contaminants and plant uptake (Professors Gigi Buttiglieri and Sara Rodriguez)

-Unveiling Microbial Signatures: Harnessing Wastewater-based Epidemiology for Human Health Assessment (Professors Carles Borrego and Lluis Corominas)

-Analysis of microplastics and related contaminants using Pyrolysis-GC-MS for their monitoring in greywater treatment trains for water reuse applications (Professor Sara Rodriguez)

-Fate of PFAS in potable water reuse (Professors Mira Petrovic and Maria Jose Farré)

-Characterization of organic matter using HRMS for the prediction of DBP formation potential (Professor Maria Jose Farré)

-Assessment of persistent, mobile, and toxic compounds in groundwater intended for drinking water supply (Professors Meritxell Gros, Sara Rodriguez and Josep Mas-Pla).

-Where do the bad guys go? What is behind the excellent removal of emerging contaminants in biological activated carbon? (Professor Wolfgang Gernjak)

-Recovery of added-value compounds from waste streams produced during wastewater treatment (Professor Maite Pijuan)

-Data scientist, modeler and artificial intelligence-expert in the urban water cycle (Professors Joaquim Comas and Lluis Corominas)
