On 16 October, ICRA hosted the “Micromasclismes” workshop, a training activity focused on identifying and preventing everyday behaviours that may reproduce gender inequalities in workplace and research environments.

The session, delivered as part of the CERCARUMB programme by CERCA Gender, brought together research and support staff from different centres to reflect on attitudes and dynamics that, often subtly or unconsciously, contribute to maintaining inequalities between women and men in professional settings.

During the workshop, participants explored the concept of “micromasclisme” (everyday sexism), analysing what these behaviours are and the impact they can have on both workplace relationships and professional development. Participants worked on practical cases and real-life examples to identify common situations within research teams, such as repeated interruptions, appropriation of ideas, the informal and unequal distribution of certain tasks, and the invisibilisation of professional contributions.

The training also provided tools and strategies to detect these situations and address them constructively, fostering more respectful, inclusive and equitable working environments.
