Research Professor Associated
Ramon J. Batalla is professor of Physical Geography at the University of Lleida (UdL) and associate research professor at ICRA in the line of “Hydrological processes and water resources”. He obtained his doctorate in Geography at the University of Barcelona (1993) for research on the sediment balance of a granitic basin in the Catalan Coastal Ranges. Since 2016, he has been an Honorary Associate Professor at the Universitat Austral de Chile (UACH, Valdivia).
His research focuses on fluvial geomorphology, the measurement and modeling of fluvial processes, especially sediment transport, fluvial restoration and ecogeomorphology. His research has a markedly applied approach, examining the effects of global change on river dynamics and the influence of hydraulic infrastructures, climate change and land use on water and sedimentary regimes, and biophysical interactions in river basins. rivers, especially in Mediterranean basins.
