Anna Freixa is a postdoctoral researcher at ICRA in the research line of “Biodiversity and functions of aquatic ecosystems”. He obtained his PhD in Experimental Sciences and Sustainability from the University of Girona (2016) investigating the use of organic carbon dissolved in fluvial biofilms in Mediterranean rivers sensitive to climate change. Currently, she is a Juan de la Cierva researcher (IJC2019).

His research has focused on understanding the role of fluvial biofilms in carbon metabolism and their responses to climate change (temperature rise, the effects of drought and extreme events) and the impacts of chemical pollution (such as nanoparticles and micro-pollutants) in water.
