Predoctoral Researcher
Javier Ortiz Rivero is a pre-doctoral researcher at ICRA in the research line “Biodiversity and functions of aquatic ecosystems”. He has a degree in Biology from Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (2019) and a master’s degree in Biodiversity in tropical areas and its conservation from Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo (2021).
His research focuses on the impact of multiple stress factors on river biofilms (mainly algae and bacteria). Specifically, it studies the effects of stressors such as pesticides, nutrients, temperature or water stress – including their intensity, frequency and temporal occurrence – on structure (diversity and composition) and function (primary production, respiration, mineralization) of biofilm communities.
