Predoctoral Researcher
Atefeh Tizchang is a PhD candidate in the Water Science and Technology program at the University of Girona. She has a master’s degree in chemical engineering from Sahand University of Technology, Iran. As a master’s thesis, she worked on the fabrication and characterization of nanocomposite membranes for wastewater treatment, a project funded by the Nanotechnology Innovation Council of Iran, which resulted in scientific publications. She also has several years of professional experience as a research engineer in different industrial sectors in Tehran, Iran. She is currently working on the iWAYS project funded by the European Union and is responsible for designing a robust membrane distillation (MD) system for industrial wastewater treatment. To this end, she is developing a three-dimensional simulation of the membrane distillation system using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), as well as performing laboratory-scale experiments on a tunable MD system to validate the developed model. Her main research interests focus on water treatment technologies, separation processes, membrane technology and CFD modeling.
