This line aims to study the presence, distribution and abundance of pathogens, including antibiotic-resistant bacteria and water-borne viruses, in natural and urban waters. We also investigate how anthropogenic pollution affects the structure and composition of the aquatic resistome and mobilome.

• Evaluation of the microbiological quality and safety of natural and urban waters.
• Study of the factors and mechanisms involved in the acquisition and spread of antibiotic resistance genes in natural and artificial aquatic environments.
• Effect of environmental stress factors on the diversity and functioning of microbial communities in inland waters.
