Monday, 29 March 2021

ICRA presents EdiCitNet Toolbox , a public and online collection of tools specially designed for urban food-related initiatives that is available in 7 languages (English, Català, Español, Français, Deutsch, Português, Slovenščina).

The EdiCitNet Toolbox offers a wide variety of tools and content:

–The most comprehensive catalog of initiatives related to urban food, including interactive Profiles that show comprehensive technical information, evaluation of results and a section for the interaction between the initiative and the user of the platform in which the User can see upcoming events and leave comments. At the same time, it has non-interactive profiles that show reduced information, in which there is no interaction or communication.

– Design and planning tool that allows users to create their own initiatives related to urban food, providing information on the resources needed and food potential.

–Performance assessment tool that allows the user to compare the performance of initiatives related to urban food in terms of sustainability, urban challenges and ecosystem services. In addition, the tool will provide guidance on how to improve these outcomes by suggesting nature-based solutions and connecting the user to other initiatives they can learn from.

EdiCitNet Toolbox is also designed to serve a wide variety of end users:

–People who want to get involved in the edible movement of their cities can use the catalog to find initiatives related to urban food where they can buy local edible products or, for example, participate in a volunteer program. They can also use the design and planning tool to launch their own initiative.

–Owners/participants of urban initiatives related to food: they can use the catalog to increase the visibility of their initiative, connect with civil society or expand their edible network, finding other initiatives to learn from or with to collaborate In addition, they can use the performance evaluation tool to check how the initiative is working in terms of sustainability, urban challenges and ecosystem services, and also to get guidance on how to improve operations.

–Urban planners: They can use the design and planning tool to design initiatives related to urban food at the city scale and get an idea of the food potential and the resources needed.

–Researchers: they can use the Catalog to find possible case studies (ECS).

EdiCitNet Toolbox has been developed by ICRA, within the framework of the H2020 Edible Cities Network project ( EdiCitNet ), and has had the collaboration of the University of Ljubljana for the design and planning tool.

We encourage all those people involved in any kind of initiative related to urban food to create their own ECS profile in the EdiCitNet Toolbox. If you have any doubts, you can contact Joana Castellar, jcastellar@icra.cat .
