ELECTRON4WATER study on graphene sponge electrodes for water treatment published

Tuesday, 21 September 2021

The ELECTRON4WATER team has published its first study on graphene sponge electrodes developed for water treatment. The material has been patented and will represent a major leap forward in wider scale application of electrochemical water treatment due to its low cost and ability to degrade persistent perfluorinated substances without forming toxic byproducts.

The article, signed by ICRA researchers Luis Baptista-Pires, Giannis-Florjan Norra and Jelena Radjenovic, was published last September 15 in the prestigious Water Research magazine
