On 4 June, the University Institute for Water and Environmental Engineering Research at the Universitat Politècnica de València (IIAMA-UPV) held the awards ceremony for the 11th edition of its National Awards, which recognize the best academic and scientific works carried out by early-career researchers in the fields of water engineering, environmental sciences, and sustainable development.

Esther Mendoza received the runner-up award in the “Planet and Sustainable Development” category, sponsored by the Chair of Cooperation and Sustainable Development, for her doctoral thesis evaluating innovative technologies for greywater treatment and reuse. The research was supervised by Joaquim Comas (ICRA and Lèquia-UdG), Gianluigi Buttiglieri (ICRA), and Gaëtan Blandin (Lèquia-UdG).

The ceremony, held at the Assembly Hall of the UPV School of Civil Engineering, brought together representatives from academia, industry, and public institutions. It highlighted the high scientific quality of the research presented and reinforced the awards’ status as one of Spain’s leading initiatives for promoting emerging research talent.
