The city of Girona hosted the final annual meeting of the European MULTISOURCE project (Grant Agreement No. 101003527). Held at the premises of ICRA, the event marked a significant milestone in the four-year journey of the project, which focused on the development and implementation of nature-based solutions (NbS) for decentralized water treatment and reuse in urban environments.
Key highlights included:
– Presentation of results from demonstration sites across Europe and worldwide, showcasing green walls, constructed wetlands, and modular treatment units integrated into urban settings.
– Insights into the impact assessment, social acceptance, and cost-benefit analysis of the developed NbS.
– A showcase of the Nat4Wat tool (https://nat4wat.icradev.cat), an open-access platform designed to support decision-makers in selecting and comparing NbS for water reuse.
– A roundtable with municipal representatives, water utilities, and urban planners discussing the scaling-up potential of MULTISOURCE outcomes in future urban water strategies.
