On 19 September, the Catalan Institute for Water Research (ICRA) took part in the event “Two Years Building the Future: From Knowledge to Innovation”, an initiative designed to showcase the contribution of research, innovation and knowledge transfer to social and economic development.

ICRA was represented by its Director, Vicenç Acuña, who participated in this meeting point for stakeholders from the research and innovation ecosystem. The event provided an opportunity to share experiences and reflect on the role of science in developing solutions to today’s challenges.

In addition to its institutional presence, the institute presented GLH2OPS, a science outreach activity based on a water tasting experience that invites participants to explore the characteristics of different types of water, including tap water, filtered pitcher water, reverse osmosis-treated water and bottled water. Through this interactive activity, attendees were able to gain insights into taste perception, water quality and the environmental impacts associated with our consumption habits.

GLH2OPS brings scientific knowledge closer to the public in an engaging and participatory way, encouraging reflection on water consumption choices and their sustainability. The project is supported by the 2026 Grants of the Catalan Foundation for Research and Innovation (FCRI).
