ICRA-CERCA researcher Esther Mendoza defended her doctoral thesis on July 12, 2024 at ICRA-CERCA headquarters. His thesis is entitled “Greywater Reuse: Decentralized Treatment with Forward Osmosis and Hydroponic Systems” and the directors were Joaquim Comas, Gaetan Blandin and Gianluigi Buttiglieri.
The evaluation committee was formed by Darja Istenič (University of Ljubljana), Julie Mendret (European Institute of Membranes), and Ignasi Rodriguez-Roda (University of Girona). His thesis aimed to explore the feasibility of direct osmosis and hydroponics as decentralized systems for on-site greywater treatment and reuse to ensure safe reuse.
