On 28 November 2025, ICRA welcomed in Girona a Belgian delegation of eight representatives from research centres, technology clusters and public institutions, as part of an exploratory mission focused on the water sector in Catalonia.
The visit was part of a mission organised by the Wallonia–Brussels General Delegation in Spain, which took place from 26 to 28 November, with the aim of gaining first-hand insight into the key players of the Catalan water ecosystem, identifying innovative solutions and exploring opportunities for scientific and technological collaboration, particularly within European projects.
During the meeting at ICRA, the delegation learned about the institute’s main research lines, as well as leading projects related to water quality, emerging contaminants, environmental health and sustainable water resources management. The visit also provided an opportunity to exchange views on shared challenges and potential synergies between Catalan and Belgian institutions.
This visit strengthens ICRA’s position as an international reference in water research and highlights its active role in building European partnerships aimed at generating scientific knowledge with real impact on public policies and society.
The visit was made possible thanks to the contact facilitated by the Catalan Water Agency (ACA) and forms part of ICRA’s strategy to strengthen its presence and collaboration within international research and innovation networks.
