On May 13th, a new edition of ICRA’s Flash Seminars was held, focusing on the theme “Water and Health,” with presentations by researchers Mira Petrovic, Wolfgang Gernjak, Sofía Semitsoglou, Carles Borrego, Pamela Colman, and Mireia Fillol.
The seminar highlighted that water can be both a health risk, due to contaminants and antibiotic resistance, and a powerful tool to understand public health through wastewater-based epidemiology. Talks addressed key issues such as growing concerns over antibiotic resistance, the safe reuse of treated water, and the potential of wastewater as a source of data to detect social and health inequalities. The event also emphasized ICRA’s expertise in wastewater analysis and its active role in public health monitoring projects.
