Marc Castaño-Trias, ICRA and UdG PhD student, spent 3 months (from March 6 to June 9, 2023) at the Environmental and Health Engineering Laboratory of the University of Ferrara (Italy), under the direction of Prof. Paola Verlicchi, head of the Engineering Department, as part of her FI scholarship.
The research activity and collaboration was on contaminants of emerging concern (ie pharmaceuticals) in water recovery systems for crop irrigation in the Mediterranean area. The aim was to select pharmaceuticals of concern based on their persistence, toxicity, bioaccumulation and other criteria from the literature as well as the previous experience of ICRA and the University of Ferrara.
