Boosting sustainable second-generation protein production from methane through mixed culture methylotrophs (METPRO).

The project is funded under the State Programme to Promote Scientific and Technical Research and its Transfer, within the State Plan for Scientific, Technical and Innovation Research 2021–2023. The aim of the project is to assess the viability of an aerobic methanotrophic microbial community for protein production. The main tasks will involve laboratory work, including the setup and operation of two bioreactors for the enrichment of a bacterial community from wastewater treatment plant sludge. Reactor performance monitoring and molecular analyses will also be carried out, including DNA extractions and protein analysis.
