The PerCientEx project commemorates its tenth edition with the organization of the conference “PERCIENTEX 2026. Journalism for Scientific Integrity”. The event, to be held next Thursday, June 11th, at CosmoCaixa Barcelona, will focus on debating and reclaiming the role of “watchdog” (or investigative) science journalism as an essential tool for detecting misconduct, fraud, and malpractice within the research field.
The gathering will feature a panel of top-tier speakers who will address the issue from various sector perspectives. Notable participants include Pilar Paneque, Director of the National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation (ANECA); Rodrigo Pérez Ortega, a renowned journalist for Science magazine; and Mira Petrovic, Research Professor at the Catalan Institution for Research and Advanced Studies (ICREA) based at the Catalan Institute for Water Research (ICRA) and a well-known whistleblower in the scientific community.
The conference is free of charge upon registration and will take place from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. It is organized by the Catalan Association of Scientific Communication (ACCC), with the support of CosmoCaixa and the collaboration of the Communication and Education Research Group at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB).
