Specialist Technician
Elisabet Tornés got her PhD at the University of Girona (2009) studying the structure of diatom communities in Mediterranean rivers in relation to physical and chemical factors. Afterwards she was a Postdoctoral fellow at the Resources and Ecosystems Area of ICRA, and at the Institute of Aquatic Ecology of the University of Girona, highlighting the tasks related to the assessment in the use of algae to evaluate the ecological status of rivers, and the involvement in projects associated with the transfer between research and management, working in collaboration with the Catalan Water Agency (ACA), the Ebro Hydrographic Confederation (CHE) and the Spanish Ministry of Environment, among others. Since June 2022 is the Curator & Internal Project Manager of ICRA, where she is responsible for the biological collections; and the research data management, being the contact person in ICRA with I-CERCA and the Consortium of University Services of Catalonia (CSUC) regarding this issue. She has a wide experience in taxonomy of freshwater diatoms, data curation, data base management and processing, and analysis of results.
