The SmartWaterTwin Project aims to promote knowledge and research excellence in the Republic of Serbia in the field of sustainable wastewater treatment and management, as well as increase the institution’s scientific and technical capabilities in expansion, the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Novi Sad (UNSPMF). In addition, the aim is also to strengthen the research management and administration skills of the UNSPMF to provide tailored support services to researchers. In this way, the UNSPMF research group will act as a nerve center for the entire Western Balkans region, offering innovative and valuable solutions for the supply chain in the water sector. The collaboration of the SmartWaterTwin project brings together the UNSPMF, a Serbian research institution, and two institutions of international leadership: the Catalan Water Research Institute – Research and Innovation for the sustainable use of water, Spain (ICRA) and the Laboratory of Water, Environment and Urban Systems of the University Paris-Est Créteil, France (LEESU), contributing to a more balanced development of European research. The main objective of the project is to develop a unique platform for the interconnection between the circular economy and wastewater treatment to cover the latest scientific advances in this field, as well as to facilitate the exchange of expertise and data and promote Serbia’s research collaboration with participating EU countries and others.
