Research Professor Associated
Josep Mas-Pla is a professor of Hydrogeology at the University of Girona (UdG) and a research professor attached to ICRA in the research line of “Hydrological processes and water resources”. He obtained a doctorate in Geological Sciences from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (1988), and in Hydrology and Water Resources from the University of Arizona (1993).
His research focuses on regional hydrogeology based on fieldwork, hydrochemical and isotopic data, and groundwater transport modeling to determine the sustainability of water resources in the face of anthropogenic pressures and climate change. It also deals with the problem of contamination by nitrates and emerging pollutants (pharmaceutical products and antibiotics) of groundwater.
