AGUARICS is an innovative project aimed at improving the management of reclaimed water networks through advanced digital solutions. Its goal is to develop an intelligent sensor network capable of monitoring water quality in real time, as well as a digital twin connected to this network to simulate hydraulic behaviour, anticipate incidents and optimize infrastructure performance.

The initiative integrates artificial intelligence, GIS, and advanced cybersecurity and data protection protocols, building on the experience of the ReWaT project. The solutions will be validated in real environments to strengthen industrial competitiveness and promote the use of reclaimed water as a strategic resource for sustainability and water resilience.

AGUARICS is funded by the Spanish Ministry of Industry and Tourism (AEI-0100500-2025-107). The main coordinator is the Catalan Water Partnership (CWP), with the participation of ABM Serveis d’Enginyeria i Consulting S.L., BGEO Open GIS, SENSOTEC Instruments, ULBIOS, Hispasec, University of Girona, Smart City Cluster and the Catalan Institute for Water Research (ICRA). ICRA’s participating researchers are Lluís Corominas, Oriol Gutiérrez, Josep Pueyo and Oliu Llorente.
