On January 27, the Sant Narcís Civic Center (Girona) hosted a community composting workshop organized by the neighborhood collective Menja’t Sant Narcís, which promotes urban agriculture and the recovery of domestic organic waste. The workshop was conducted by ICRA researcher Lucas Alonso, a collaborator with the collective in outreach and advisory roles for composting under the projects GGsolutions (PID2024-161596OB-C21; MICIU/AEI/10.13039/501100011033/FEDER, EU) and NEWater (PCI2024-153445, MCIU/AEI/10.13039/501100011033/EU).

The session covered the principles of domestic and community vermicomposting, including waste management, material balance, and the conditions necessary to promote microbial and earthworm activity to produce stable, high-quality compost.

The activity strengthened the link between ICRA’s research and local sustainability and circular economy initiatives.
