On June 17, the Government of Catalonia and the Catalan Foundation for Research and Innovation (FCRI) held a new edition of the National Research Awards at the Teatre Nacional de Catalunya in Barcelona, recognizing research excellence in Catalonia.
This year, the National Innovation Award for the Creation of a Science-Based Company was granted to Ecomemb S.L., born out of the collaboration between the University of Girona (UdG) and the Catalan Institute for Water Research (ICRA).
Ecomemb is the first European company specialized in the regeneration of reverse osmosis membranes for reuse in the same processes they were originally designed for. Through its proprietary technology, the company regenerates membranes while minimizing resource use and increasing process efficiency, with the aim of creating a positive impact on environmental sustainability and the circular economy of industrial water treatment.
