As part of the European Joint Action on Antimicrobial Resistance and Healthcare-Associated Infections EU-JAMRAI 2 activities, on October 13-15, Sara Rodriguez-Mozaz and M. Eugenia Valdés participated in the “Workshop on the environmental approach of antimicrobial resistance” in Madrid. This face-to-face meeting gathered 50 professionals from 15 countries to work together in aligning approaches, definitions and priorities of action in the environmental working groups “antimicrobial stewardship”, “infection prevention and control interventions” and “surveillance” and thus establish common reference points to continue working on the tasks within each group. Professionals from multidisciplinary fields from both the scientific and governmental sectors were participating in transversal discussion groups, as for example data sources and analysis of results, capacity building and training, stakeholder engagement, regulatory and policy frameworks.
