On March 26th, 2026, ICRA researcher Gianluigi Buttiglieri organized the final meeting of the European project PRIMA-SAFE (Sustainable water reuse practices improving safety in agriculture, food and environment, PCI2022-132980), funded by the Spanish State Research Agency (AEI). The meeting also featured the participation of ICRA researchers Sara Rodríguez-Mozaz and Sofia Semitsoglou.
Within the framework of this project, the ICRA team was responsible for characterizing the presence of selected emerging contaminants in trial crops (such as tomatoes) grown in situ in Tunisia, Morocco, Greece, and Italy. Furthermore, the institute conducted a comprehensive environmental and human health risk assessment of these irrigation practices based on the detailed analysis of water, soil, and crop quality.
