Meritxell Gros, a researcher from the Catalan Institute for Water Research (ICRA), participated on May 5th in the second lecture series organized by the Campus d’Aigua (Water Campus) of the University of Girona, held at the Casa de Cultura in Girona.
The Campus Aigua is a UdG initiative that promotes outreach activities and discussion forums to bring the main challenges related to water, sustainability, and the environment closer to society, with the participation of researchers and experts from the sector.
During the session, several studies conducted at ICRA were presented on the presence and distribution of emerging contaminants in groundwater, both in aquifers from the province of Girona and across Catalonia. The talk focused on compounds such as pharmaceuticals, antibiotics, PFAS “forever chemicals,” and other contaminants of emerging concern, as well as their distribution and potential impact on groundwater resources.
