From 16 to 18 September 2026, Gianluigi Buttiglieri participated in the 6th edition of the international conference RETASTE (Rethink Food Resources, Losses and Waste), held in Rethymno, Crete, Greece.
The conference brought together researchers, companies, public administrations and other stakeholders involved in waste prevention, resource recovery and circular economy strategies applied to food, water and waste systems.
As part of the conference, Gianluigi Buttiglieri delivered the plenary lecture “Green walls for greywater treatment and reuse: from treatment performance to nature-based co-benefits” and presented the scientific contribution “Growth performance of hydroponic crops and assessment of potential food safety risks from light greywater use”.
Both contributions addressed the potential of greywater as a resource, from the perspective of nature-based solutions for its treatment and reuse, as well as its application in food production systems.
These contributions are part of the NaturImpAct project, funded by FECYT (Fundación Española para la Ciencia y la Tecnología, F.S.P., Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades; project FCT-25-23433), and the NEWater project (PCI2024-153445; MICIU/AEI/10.13039/501100011033/EU), funded by the Spanish State Research Agency (AEI) and the European Union.
