ICRA

The International Day of Women and Girls in Science is celebrated on February 11. It was established in 2015 by the UN in Resolution 70/474/Add.2.
The aim is to promote the full and equal participation of women and girls in education, training, employment and decision-making processes in science, and to eliminate all forms of discrimination against women in the spheres of education and employment, while breaking down legal, economic, social and cultural barriers through policies and curricula in the field of science that encourage greater participation of women and girls and recognize their contributions.
This celebration is part of Sustainable Development Goal number 5 of the 2030 Agenda, which aims to achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls. According to a study conducted in 14 countries, the likelihood of female students completing a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctorate in a science-related subject is 18%, 8%, and 2%, respectively, while the likelihood for male students it is 37%, 18% and 6%.
The gender gap in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) sectors persists around the world.

ICRA does not want to miss the opportunity to remind these goals.
