Maite Pijuan is a member of the Programme Committee of the IWA World Water Congress & Exhibition 2026, one of the most important international events in the water sector, which will take place in Glasgow (Scotland). Organized by the International Water Association (IWA), the congress brings together experts, researchers, water professionals, and policy leaders from around the world to address key challenges in water management and treatment.

The event stands out for its scale and global impact. For this edition, more than 1,600 scientific submissions have been received, and the programme is structured around six major themes, coordinated by a Programme Committee composed of 25 international specialists. The previous edition attracted over 11,000 water professionals, highlighting its role as a major meeting point for the global water community.

As part of this role, from the 3rd to 6th of March Maite Pijuan attended the Programme Committee meeting in Glasgow, where members worked on defining the final scientific programme of the congress. In particular, she has contributed to the selection the platform presentations and workshops within Theme 2, dedicated to wastewater treatment processes.

Maite Pijuan’s participation in the committee reflects the international recognition of her expertise in wastewater treatment and strengthens the institute’s presence in one of the most important global forums in the water sector.
