ICRA researcher Gabriela Córdoba defended her doctoral thesis on 17 October 2025 at ICRA. The thesis, entitled “Scale-Dependent Patterns of Hydrological, Chemical, and Ecological Descriptors in an Intensively Managed Mediterranean River”, was supervised by Josep Mas Pla, Sergi Sabater, and Ramon J. Batalla.
This doctoral thesis uses a multiscale approach to understand how climate change and anthropogenic pressures affect the hydrology of an intermittent river, and how this in turn determines patterns of nutrient concentrations and primary producers throughout the catchment. The research combined long-term data analysis with field monitoring and hydrological modelling, using the Onyar River basin (Girona, Spain) as a case study.
