Esther Mendoza Perdiguero has received an Honourable Mention in the Planet and Sustainable Development category, sponsored by the Chair of Cooperation and Sustainable Development, for her doctoral thesis entitled “Greywater reuse: decentralized treatment using forward osmosis and hydroponic systems”.

The thesis was supervised by Joaquim Comas (ICRA and Lequia-UdG), Gianluigi Buttiglieri (ICRA) and Gaëtan Blandin (Lequia-UdG), and focuses on innovative solutions for greywater reuse through decentralized technologies, contributing to more sustainable water resource management.

The IIAMA Awards for the best academic works — doctoral theses, master’s theses and bachelor’s theses — defended at Spanish universities are a prestigious and well-established call for young researchers in the water sector. Since their first edition in 2014, the awards have grown steadily, increasing both the number of distinctions granted and the support of companies and institutions linked to the water sector.
