On January 23, ICRA’s team working on NEWater and GGsolutions projects met at the UAB campus with the research group led by Dr. Xavier Gabarrell from Sostenipra (ICTA-UAB). Representing ICRA were researchers Gianluigi Buttiglieri, Sara Rodríguez-Mozaz, María Eugenia Valdés, Lucas Alonso, and Maria Pau Garcia-Moll.
The workshop allowed the groups to share their lines of work, focused on nature-based solutions, emerging pollutant analysis, and life cycle assessment. In relation to this research, the ICRA researchers presented the progress of the GGsolutions (PID2024-161596OB-C21; MICIU/AEI/10.13039/501100011033 / FEDER, UE) and NEWater (PCI2024-153445, MCIU/AEI/10.13039/501100011033/EU) projects.
During the meeting, experiences were shared regarding hydroponic systems and plant experimentation. Furthermore, the results of the ongoing collaboration were discussed, focusing on the transfer of pollutants from treated yellow water to hydroponic crops.
The session concluded with a tour of the campus facilities, including water treatment reactors and experimental cultivation systems.
