On March 20th, the ICRA auditorium was filled to capacity for the first edition of Confluences, a meeting that brought together researchers from the Catalan Institute for Water Research (ICRA) and the University of Girona (UdG) to share research lines, projects, and common challenges related to water. The event, which was a great success in terms of attendance, aimed to strengthen ties between the two institutions and promote interdisciplinary collaboration.

Throughout the session, various approaches to water research were presented: from community ecology, aquatic biogeochemistry, and ecosystem services, to the study of pollutants, analytical chemistry, and environmental toxicology. Research lines on sustainable management, water resources, water quality, and the use of new experimental and analytical methodologies were also highlighted. The meeting concluded with an open discussion on UdG–ICRA cooperation strategies and laid the groundwork for future joint initiatives.
