The director of the ICRA, Damià Barceló, named Honorary Doctor of the University of Almeria

The Senate of the University of Almeria , chaired by its rector Carmelo Rodríguez Torreblanca, has approved, on October 20, 2020, the appointment of Dr. Damià Barceló Cullerés , director of the Catalan Water Research Institute (ICRA) , as Doctor Honoris Causa by the University of Almeria, at the proposal of the Department of Chemistry and Physics and the Faculty of Experimental Sciences of the same University Among the reasons for the award, it is worth noting “the relevant research of Dr. Barcelona in the field of the environment, in which it is a world leader in the detection and remediation of problems related to the pollution processes of the water cycle. He has participated in research projects with groups from the University of Almeria and in researcher exchange programs between the CSIC and the University». This appointment is in addition to the Doctor Honoris Causa awarded by the University of Lleida, on February 20, 2020, still pending due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Dr. Damià Barceló is an Honorary Doctor from the University of Ioannina (Greece). He has also been awarded the Jaume I Environmental Protection Award (2007); the Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz International Water Award of Saudi Arabia (2012), and the Recipharm International Environmental Award (2012), from a leading Swedish pharmaceutical manufacturing company in Europe.
